A certain number of married men Lance Sergeants

and Constables should also be allowed to bring their familes

as in the other places, Singapore, Penang, Malay States Guide

and in the Artillery, Also ration should be fixed for married

men's wives and children, as allowed in the above mentioned

places.

11. Free passage should also be paid to married

men's families like European Sergeants and Inspectors, as the

Indians are the natives of Punjab, a country long way off from

-ly to request that you will kindly consider our hard duties

like Stanley, Aberdeen, Shaukiwan and New Territory patrols and

we always prove ourselves very loyal, obedient and brave to our

Goverment at all occasions and for all emergencies, but the

Chinese members of the Force, who are equally treated with us, are Bar backward in these respects and they can live on $4 per

month, the price of rice being 22 catties per dollar at present,

and their families are either in Hongkong er in its neighbour-

-hood, giving them easy chance to look after, but we are quite

unable to get such a chance here, while we are far away from

our land. We can hardly save anything now, therefore we place

ourselves to your kind mercy with a sanguine hope that you will

kindly be good enough to lay our complaints with strong re-
